| Most
mobiles allow you to synchronise contacts, calendar, tasks,
with Outlook &/or your Exchange server mailbox. |
| This
will usually be via a data cable on your desktop PC. Nokia's
use PCsuite software to synch up to Outlook. This also gives
you a backup of your mobile phone data. |
| Phones
with Windows Mobile operating system (often called Smart phones),
can have Outlook pocket version, which gives a similar interface
on mobile & desktop. |

| Email
to your mobile |
|
| Activate
your data tariff, & use GPRS (a new data network method)
to get onto the Internet. From here there are a number of ways
to collect your email. |

| Blackberry |
|
| A
proprietory method of sending & receiving email to your
mobile. 15 minute time lag, & it pulls a copy of your email
from any pop mailbox. Simple to use & reliable. Need to
pay about £12/mth to get this service, plus any data bandwidth. |

| How
much data will email use? |
£
|
| First
you must screen out any spam, using Soda3.
If you have an Exchange server, then filter it out on the server
using ScanMail |
| An
average email without an attachment is 15kb, so you will get
about 60 emails per 1mb. 1mb of downloaded data costs about
£1. So if you get 10 emails a day, it will cost about
£5 mth. Plus your email service eg Blackberry. |
